VA SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABILITY COMPENSATION

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

If VA grants service connection for a veteran’s diagnosed TBI/TBI residuals, an evaluation of 0%, 10%, 40%, or 100% can be awarded. In addition, VA awards a special monthly compensation (SMC) rate specifically for veterans with severe TBI or TBI residuals. This is known as the SMC-T rate, and you may be eligible for this benefit if you suffer from a service-connected TBI and require assistance with activities of daily living (dressing, feeding, or bathing), which, in the absence of such regular aid and attendance, would require hospitalization, nursing home care, or other residential institutional care.

Would you benefit from SMC-T, or do you need help getting your TBI service-connected?  Talk to our team.
